May

Juried High School Art Show

A favorite in the community, the yearly tradition of the Juried High School Art Show continues. Showcasing the talent and creativity of the region’s high school students, this show has been a staple of the Park Rapids arts community for years.

June

Steve Peterson & Aly Smith

Regionally based photographers Steve Peterson and Aly Smith, will display their talents. In addition, June will kick off the Nemeth Lecture Series with a free workshop taught by Steve Peterson on June 19 at 7pm. Attend this event to get some tips on composition and design from a pro.

Anniversary Show Preview

On June 30, the NAC will celebrate its 35th anniversary. To celebrate, we’ll hang every painting in the Gabor and Edith Nemeth Study Collection for the first time since 1977. In the weeks leading up to this event, we’ll have a selection of these paintings hung throughout the Art Center. Come in and preview some of what’s in store for June 30.

July

Danielle Kimzey and Mary Laube

This month will feature the work of LA based painter Danielle Kimzey and Iowa based painter Mary Laube. In addition, both of these artists will be in attendance at the Art Center, participating in the Lecture Series by teaching workshops and giving artist talks.

August

Midwest Multiples

This juried show, featuring artists residing in Minnesota and neighboring states, will be comprised of work made in editions (or multiples). Traditional printmaking techniques as well as new media and artist books will be the primary focus of the show. A print sale, lectures, and workshops will also be hosted in conjunction with the event.

September

Kayleen Horsma

The NAC will round out the 2012 season with work by local painter Kayleen Horsma.
