Adult’s Art Workshop

Thursdays in July at the Nemeth Art Center!

Summertime is bringing a special event series to the Nemeth Art Center: live art workshops every Thursday in July.

In the morning, from 10 - 12:00, still life drawing sessions will be hosted by resident artist, Liz Wheaton. Hone your powers of observation and your hand-eye coordination during this 2-hour session. Participants will be provided with a drawing board and a conte sketching pastel to practice their drawing skills, working from a group of objects arranged as a still life. Liz will be available to help with techniques and answer your questions, but basically you will be free to explore your own drawing expression as you would like. Each week is considered a separate workshop, so sign up for one or all four as your schedule allows. If you would like to bring your own materials, you are welcome to. Please wear comfortable, washable clothing.

An apron is recommended. Budding artists from High School through adult are encouraged to attend these workshops.

Afternoons will be given over to grade-school age artists. From 1 - 3:00 pm, artist-instructor Carol Kral will host workshops featuring a different medium and technique to experience every week, along with input from a different guest artist familiar with that session's medium. Sessions will be inspirational and FUN, so sign up for one or all, as each will be different! Children should wear comfortable, washable clothing; even an oversize t-shirt worn over their clothing is recommended. The sessions are limited to children entering grades 3 - 6.

Both morning and afternoon workshops are limited to ten participants each.

Cost is $20 per workshop, and artists will go home with their finished art pieces and their choice from a selection of books featuring the one of the artists recently showing their works at the Nemeth Art Center. Workshop days are July 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th. Sign ups are taken in-person at the Nemeth during gallery hours: Thursday - Saturday, 10:30 - 4:30 pm. Sorry, no phone or email reservations, please.
